When working with multiples of files Synfire could be a bit more helpful (or perhaps Iam missng something so here we go)
Importing midi to figures. I know that you can batch import a folder of midi files at a time but for a midi library there is usually a folder and then sub folders (e.g. bass, lead, etc).
Currently I need to import each folder separately. Could the batch import not import a folder of folders in one go (leaving the analysis at auto)? Sometimes each folder only contains 1 midi file.
When importing drums I notice that the preset for non-harmonic analysis is only applied to the first midi imported the rest are harmonic which produces wrong figures and so I need to do each of my drum midi's one by one.
Once Ive got a folder of figures and I decide to delete the folder there is no option until the folder is empty. Unfortunately I seem to need to delete each figure in the folder one by one until its empty and then can delete the folder. There doesnt seem to be a multiple selection of figures?
Coming from electronic music scene I tend to have a lot of midi files, how can I get these more easily into Synfire and manage them more easily?

Good point. Will be included with next update.

There's a (global) switch that forces all tracks and all files to be imported as static pitches

Not yet. Needs more work but unlikely to happen with 2.0 release already.

Perfect for embedded folder import.
Where do I find the global switch and can it make an estimate of BPM for imported figures. At the moment I find I need to set the BPM for each drum midi. Importing from (exported UVI Drum Designer) loops I made seems to need the BPM set for each loop. Otherwise perfect!
When switching on the grid to edit drums it would be great if the sub bar beat division was a bit bolder (e.g each quarter in a bar) for visual navigation.
In the browser would be great to have multiple selection with control and shift but I can understand it not making it to 2.0

Hi Andre,
Checking out 2.09 I noticed you have added import folder feature (Great!). Only problem is I'am unable to select any folder in the right hand panel of the dialog. Ive tried it with a bunch of folders but each time I'am unable to select anything with it.
Any idea?
Paul.

One additional thing. I noticed that importing a folder using the old way (single file and batch import on) imports all of the files to the root of the library. Previously it created a folder for all the files and put them in there.
Now on batch import I have to create a new folder and drag the imported figures one by one into that folder. You can imagine its quite painfull for anything more than 10 files.
Or did I miss something?

BPM is a property of the MIDI file (Tempo). If it's missing, there is nothing Synfire could do to guess it. It's not audio.
Batch import requires you to select a directory. You can't select a MIDI file. I suggest you use the new folder import only. The other option is just confusing. We'll probably ditch it.
You need to check "Create a Folder per File" on the Settings tab if you don't want the tracks to go into the same folder. The folder tree structure is recreated in the library, starting from the root.

Maybe I should be a bit clearer. Iam trying to use the folder import only, but it doesnt allow me to select a folder from the panel and so the import never happens.

Sorry, yes. This is a bug. Somehow the file dialog on Windows doesn't accept folders. Doesn't happen on macOS.

Thanks for checking it.
Regarding the BPM of course youre right. It didnt occur to me that perhaps the midi file was missing the tempo info.

Midi folder import works perfectly on Windows now.
Thanks for including it in the latest beta.
Its really robust chugging through 1000's of midi files without a crash.
Perfect for getting a wide selection of midi into Synfire. A real luxury
