I was playing around with adding a scheme snapshot to successive one bar containers.
I had
5*4, 3*4, 7*4, 5*4
I think the grid is leaving of a beat on each in the container view the grid adjusted itself so
bar 1 has 4 beats
bar 2 has 3
bar 3 has 6
bar 4 has 4
3/4 and 4/4 seem ok on every occasion
Any one else have this problem?

:? This way?
Keep in mind that a container can only hold one scheme. Multiple schemes require a container each. Its the same with interpretations.

I realized what was causing the error.
When you change the time signature of a container, the container needs to be resized to reflect that change.
For example if you have two one bar 4/4 containers one after the next, and you switch them both to 5/4 the beat will effectively still be 4/4 until the end container is shifted to the right a beat and both containers are manually extended by a beat.
Is this ideal? Should Synfire handle those transformations? It would seem like it would be an advantage to avoid repeating that shift-elongate procedure if it is implicit in the scheme.
I'm glad I can at least do what I need now.
p.s. The improvements on the containers are fancy.
