Hello,
it would be really helpfull, to avoid the uncomfortable syncing and switching to other DAW applications, to have a new instrument type "wave". This instument should just play a wave or other media - file.
Important e.g for vocal tracks or other things that can not be generated by midi.
Best regards,
Mike.

One could imagine a separate Synfire module which would take back and register the audio output of the DAW, for more precise reshaping with drawing wav forms tools

+1 for this suggestion Mike, very handy
It should be kept very simple, just a playback of the file positionable at the correct location in the timeline
-->just for harmony check and sync with the composing (no wave editing or other audio feature which are not the purpose of Synfire)

Better DAW integration is a top priority on our agenda. It's still in the research and experimentation stage, though. There are a couple urgent ARs to resolve first.
We got a very positive review of HN2 in the current KEYS magazine. Basically the only complaint was the complicated MIDI setup with loopback drivers. We feel this is true and want to change it.
The current solution is fine for orchestral music, jazz trios and similar styles. Fortunately, these are also the styles where Synfire offers the greatest benefit and expressive power. These composers set up a huge rack of sounds in advance and then just use it for all projects. This does not work that well for other styles.

Make it an AU or VST instrument.
It's possible - the guy who makes Numerology has done it.
It would be great to be able to drag and drop between Ableton and Synfire. javascript:emoticon(':-o')
