Hello,
Great Software!
Something would be cool to add (as an option):
What about if you (or HN) trigger(s) a chord in the palette, you can only play notes on your midi keyboard that fit to this chord. All other notes are "blocked" the same time.
You'll be easily able to find your melody by playing around on your keyboard while the chords change and never play "bad" notes.

Thanks!

Perhaps 2 options: "fit to the chord" or "fit to the scale"

+1 and a similar idea by defining instruments: the possibility that allows the user freely to define instruments that can just play selcted pitches or a certain range, so pitches will be forced into it. (as examples: an orff pecussion xylo that just plays C E G A, a Bb-diatonic instrument or a F-pentatonic one etc. okay, I'm on synfire, dunno any about HN …)

You are probably referring to live MIDI Through play only.
As for recording and compiled music, the renderer already does this in a much more sophisticated way. Snapping pitches to the chord is brute force and rarely sounds good ("arpeggio effect"). Snapping pitches to the scale is a little better, but very ineffective without voice leading that considers the individual progression. If harmonic quantization was really this easy, I could have written Synfire and HN in a few months.
I know this feature is being asked for every now and then. Have you actually tried it? Are you happy with it?
@Minkepatt: Your suggestion is a different story. Instruments with a limited pitch selection are very useful.

Interesting, but is it possible to play live a melody in HN2?
Is it now the case that you must import a melody in HN2..
Say you have a intro of 8 bars and with a chordprogression in a particular scale and want to play along the accompaniment..
At the moment i don't know how to see in the pallette the chords who belonging to a choosen scale(key)?
Also handy is for the circle of fifth diagram .. # and b notation for the scales..so i don't have to memorize this all the time.
There is also a software keyboard connected with the palette and you can see the chord or scale when you play a chord on the palette.
It should be handy to see the chord type and scale type on the keyboard with symbols and visual..so when a chord is played
it shows visual also the underlying scale
There is no live melody play along feature in HN2..but playing along with the basis accompaniment could be a idea
--------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also the issue that i cannot see what particular figure (name in the premanufactured examples) is used in a accompaniment..so it is difficult to do some variations
Another thing is the progression of a whole song?.. it is now a chordprogession for a songsection.is it not possible to add the chordprogression under the songsection in HN2 and perhaps also labelling the chord coloring?..or try to get a idea of the harmonical functional movement like that.
Only a letter symbol for a chordal function is not so clear, perhaps more visual .. at least the tonica, subdominant and dominant
As a colored bar under the songsection ( perhaps also a idea for SFP if it not exist there..why not )
I am curious to see when i can use the demo version of SFP and a video
A weak versus strong chordprogression to name something?..the idea is to get more chord progression variations control in the songsections

Hi Andre,
Of course, it's not for serious composing. Just for jamming and getting some quick ideas while the chords change…Maybe a little check box on the keyboard window titled "fit to scale", nothing more...
