I'll probably screw this question up.
But is it possible to build our own rules (i.e. follow interval structures, voice leading,etc.) into Synfire rather than use the inbuilt rules?
Just curious.

Edie: But there's a huge bug trying to create your own hortizontal scales. I'll select new and start creating it, but as I add them the selection in the left column jumps to another selection (like harmonic-major) and only gives you the option to either discard or overwrite the entry its on (i.e. presets.) I accidentally wrote over one already.
Crap. This should have been easy.

Two hours later I set up several new scales and saved them. I came back later and tried to load my catalog file and get a runtime error everytime. Tonight I'm hating this program.

Concerning the editor behavior you describe: While changing the interval structure, you will (temporarily) create scales that already exist (possibly under a different name though). This makes the selection jump to that scale. This should not replace the existing scale though, unless you save your changes.

First let me say I'm sorry about getting a bit hacked off at the program. Bad night last night.
BTW, I've sent the catalog file as you requested.
Anyhow, your supposition is exactly what was happening. It's very finicky entering these new scales.
What I was attempting to do was actually replace all the built in scales, etc. with a new theory I'm learning. Sort of replace everything under the hood and use Synfire Pro's engine to do eveything once I've entered my own scales and intervals.
I finally realized it's not the best program to do what I want and have given up.
