Midi Drone for HN2 ?

Posted

I am trying to make a device description for the Halion Sonic SE
It seems that there is a MIdi drone to choose in Cubase and SFP is not running

Is this Midi drone also to use/possible  with HN2 ? (without installing SFP ) or is it related to SFP ?

It is related to Synfire. The Cognitone drone appears in the list of selectable "VST instruments" also if Synfire is not started. It can not be used with HN.

Thanks!
I cannot enjoy still the libraries, because i am dealing now with the soundassigning difficulties

No Midi drone HN2

Now i must try to connect the Halion Sonic SE with his not General MIdi sounds to HN2 too
How to do this ..direct adressing is now MIDI ? , but ido want to make device descriptions for HN2
Was there a earlier tutorial about this? .. i remember the advice to make device setups  for general use

How do you connect Halion Sonic Se with HN2 ?

Ok it seems that i have good connected Halion Sonic Se with HN2 with a device setup wit the help of the cognitone video..amazing again how much time it costs to familiarize yourself with this setup knowledge.
it is a complicated task to know exactly what you must set up and what HN2 offers in the screens.
Note: The VX trumpet sounds good ..and how about the 7 articulations for this trumpet ?- straight-vibrato soft-vibrato hard-falls-glissando up-shake and legato

Still complicated, because  Cubase has also instrumenttracks .. every track has his own Halion Sonic Se soundmodule.
What is the most easy workflow for setting up sounds for HN2 and Cubase 6.5 with a multitimbral Halion Sonic Se or as instrument tracks?
Probably when i use instrumenttracks in Cubase6.5 they can have different midichannels ( max 16) ..but are routed into one master track.
With the GM device setup all midi channels are routed into one master track in the mixer (i can easily chance this for every track a audio channel for a GM device setup in Cubase ) and is easy to assign in HN2 ..the same is the case for instrument tracks maybe

HN2 has only 8 tracks will i use a multitimbral Halion Sonic Se( this is working) or instrumenttracks for it
I think i must forget the instrumenttrack setup in Cubase for HN2, because there is one master audio , better is to have for every HN2 track a own audiochannel and i can make a submix with effects better there

  • For GM device setup : every track in HN2 gets his own audiochannel in the mixer
  • For not GM device setup ( device setup made by myself ) : every track in HN2 gets his own audiochannel in the mixer

The instrument tracks in Cubase are not multitimbral, i.e. you can use only one sound per track. Therefore I prefer to use a MIDI track to host Halion Sonic. MIDI tracks are multitimbral, so you need to use only one instance of Halion Sonic to load multiple sounds. Use direct MIDI channels to connect these sounds with the 8 instruments of HN if Halion Sonic is not in GM mode.

Thanks!

Multitimbral with Midi tracks that is the best setup for Cubase 6.5 and HN2 as i can see it now
