Multiple selection within phrase with 'Trim' function.

It would be nice to be able to select multiple portions of the phrase prior to applying 'Trim.'

While 'Clear' permits removing parts of the phrase while maintaining the linear structure of the phrase, multiple selected portions 'trimmed' seemingly could create a new phrase quickly and easily by removing the gaps and creating a different linear structure.

I know the same can be accomplished with clearing, cutting and pasting, but this takes a lot of steps.

Perhats the Cntrl key could be used in conjunction with the tool to make multiple selections before initiating the 'Trim?'
