Hi.
Here:
https://docs.cognitone.com/synfire/EN/interface/PartStructureView.html
it is reported:
but I do not seem to be able to Alt-Drag a container to make a copy.
Maybe I misunderstand what the proper keystroke is (?).

Simlpy hold Alt while you drag

Ah, well, I only posted here because I observed that not to work.
I will post back as to whether this situation was temporary/intermittent, or seems reliably reproducible.

OK, here is a video (so you don't start thinking that I'm making this stuff up!):

Does alt-drag work with parameters, chords, figure segments?
Di., 06.02.2024 - 16:58 Permalink
Well, I've seen it work, but mostly I see it not work.
Did on online test of my keyboard and the Alt key is reported as fine.
Are you seeing perfect as-expected behavior at your end? (on Windows)
I'll attach my file, in case you want to try with it. (please delete after use)

Windows or Mac should not make a difference. The drag-drop code is the same as long as you stay inside Synfire. Maybe holding alt earlier or later makes a difference.

Nope. A dozen attempts, trying to change it up every-which-way, yield the same result every time - just like the video.

Have you remapped the ALT key?

Have you remapped the ALT key?
No.
Have you tried it there, with my file?

Also, for reference, the test here: https://keyboard-test.space/
shows my Alt key operating exactly as expected.

Is there any setting inside Synfire that would affect this?

The file doesn't matter. This is baked into the user interface. What is the usual copy modifier on Windows anyway?

If there is a "standard" copy modifier for Windows, I'm not aware of it in that sense.
Shift -, Ctrl -, Alt -, are all used by various programs for various things.
Is there not a Windows machine running Synfire at Cognitone central?

Shure there is but I'm not there right now.

For me it works with the right Alt key, not with the left one.

That's interesting.
When you check the left and right Alt keys here:
https://keycode-visualizer.netlify.app/
do they show as transmitting a different code?
(For me, both left Alt and right Alt show as code 18)

Can't check now. But I'm with a German keyboard layout anyway. The right key is labeled "Alt Gr" and works definetly different to the left Alt key. So, it's maybe a keyboard layout thing.

Hi.
Any further insight here?
Not being able to do a drag-copy is "a drag"!
Di., 13.02.2024 - 13:34 Permalink
On Windows it's the CTRL key

Ah, there it is, thank you!
Of course, I suggest updating in-program and online help accordingly.
Thanks again!
