When MIDI IN is active and you press some keys on your midi keyboard, synfire should:
1. Show the pressed keys on the virtual piano
2. Analyse the chord, then show the result on the piano, or in the app title bar, or somewhere else
(3. Extra feature: Option to add this chord to the progression/change selected chord in progression)
Yes, the exact result (e.g. F#m vs. Gb6) may depend on the current musical context/ key, but in most cases the result is not ambiguous, ie. will be absolutely sufficient.
And no, I don't want to start a new recording in synfire just to input a single chord and let it be analyzed.
If this LIVE analysis cannot be performed (for what ever reason) then there should be at least the option to enter notes on the virtual piano and then perform the analysis.

You can do this in a Pallette if you select the MIDI Input button (or something similar, can't remember exactly)

Ahah, I eventually found it in the manual. It's called Recognition of Live MIDI Input and it's on page 91. Obviously you can get to it by typing page 97 in the Adobe page number box!
