Hi,

I bought the HN2 Advanced Edition, but just gave up in trying to make it work. Now I am ready to try to make it work again, since I feel bad spending so much money and not making it work.

I have Cubase 7 64bits, Windows 7.

Do you have any suggestions in how to make HN2 with Cubase?

I use Steinberg UR22 as my soundcard.

Hope to get some help.

Hi

Its a time ago that i was involved with HN2 advanced  edition, but from a Cubase template you can import this midi into HN2
It all about a "phrase" where you can build up a song with phrases ( songsections)
HN2 has a library of default phrases, but you can add also your own phrases
Phrases are the building material for a songconstruction: intro- ... etc

Hi and thanks for your reply. I was thinking more about setting up Harmony Navigator. Im really struggling with it to make it work inside my DAW.

HN2 and Cubase .. what is possible ?
The whole soundassigning system from HN2 is chanced with new releases, and i can open HN2 advanced also in Synfire pro as option

Has it drones? ..than you can export a vsti and midi from HN2 to Cubase =  a song made in HN2 export to Cubase
You can record your own phrase into HN2 or record phrases in Cubase and import them.
What can you do with phrase building (menu: transform ) in HN2 itself ?
HN2 opened in Synfire you can do a lot of phrase transformation as i see it now, but i don't know about the standalone HN2.
You don't have a complete control on the phrases in HN2 like i have in Synfire ( at a cost .. )
Perhaps Cognitone can give you more information about this ...

The standard workflow for HN2 is to export a MIDI file and import that in your DAW.

HN2 uses MIDI looback to send MIDI to standalone software (synths/samplers) or external hardware. It will not work  immediately "inside" your DAW nor sync with it, unlike Synfire's drones do. You can however turn your DAW into a sound host that listens to loopback MIDI on each of its tracks. This way you can audition the output of HN2 using the sounds you will use in your DAW later.

HN2 version 2.7 uses a simplified setup now that supports instant MIDI port & channel assignments. You don't need to deal with devices anymore. This video shows how it works. Although it is for LE, it works much similar in Advanced:

Thanks alot both of you!

Will download the new updated version and use HN2 as a standalone, create chord progressions and export/import to my DAW.
