Harmony Navigator 2.7.3

Posted

A new Harmony Navigator update is available. Version 2.7.3 includes many bug fixes and improvements. The complete list of changes is found here: (http://www.cognitone.com/support/article.stml?o=123)

Whole Song Section

The song window now shows a section on top of all other sections, labeled with your song's name. Whatever settings you make here, apply to the whole song, unless you make diferent settings in individual sections. This global section is the perfect place to put things in that are supposed to play all the time. You can drag & drop almost everything, if you want to move it from a section to here and vice versa.

Drag & Drop Export

For Drag & Drop Export, grab a single instrument on the Matrix tab, a section or even the entire song and drag it to your DAW. When you arrive there, tap the spacebar once to switch to the operating system's native drag mode. A MIDI icon will appear that you can drop on a track in your DAW.

Individual instruments export without meta data (e.g. tempo or chord names). If you need these, you can export the global instrument, which is the one left of the first instrument. When exporting a section, meta data is always included.

Also, when you export an individual instrument, HN2 will not add a lead-in bar to the exported MIDI track, as is done when a whole section is exported (unless you have disabled this option).

Tip:  HN2 always assumes the settings last used for a Standard MIDI File export. In order to change these settings, you need to export to a MIDI file before using the Drag & Drop Export.

Learn Total Pitch Range from MIDI

Press "Learn" and tap in the lowest and highest note on your MIDI keyboard. Synfire will interpolate the other ranges automatically. Also check out the new options menu next to the ranges editor: After a scan, you have the option to interpolate all ranges ...

  • According to the instrument category's scheme.
  • Equally across the whole range.
  • All ranges equal, with only the typical pitch different per range.

Internal GM Synth on OS X: Volume Fixed

Since OS X 10.7, the Internal GM Synth has been incredibly silent due to things Apple changed with QuickTime. We have fixed this now. At least with 10.9 (Mavericks), the synth is loud enough again to work with it just fine.

Select Instrument For Chords/Bass in Palette

Via the Instrument menu, you can now set one of your song's instruments to be used in the Palette and Progression Editor. You can assign a bass and a chords instrument. The chords shown on the keyboard widget are now exactly the ones you hear (and no longer chords interpreted by the global default instruments). This should eliminate a lot of confusion.

Enjoy composing!
