Hi,
I understand that I can import MIDI files using two options.
- Import into The Embedded Library.
- Import into a New Arrangement.
Is there a way to import Midi to your current opened Existing Arrangement without having the drag and drop from the library or another separate arrangement window?
If so can you please point me in the right direction
If not, can I suggest this as a new feature please.
Thanks

Hi Mike J! You can import as I do, drag midi file from Finder(Mac) into a track in Synfire, Synfire analys the file and then it will be inserted into the track.

You can also use Phrase >> Import to load the current phrase with contents of one track.

Okay, I apologise and should have been more detailed.
The midi file that I want to import is not just a single midi instrument, it's a consolidated midi file with numerous midi instrument parts.
Regardless, what I believe that you're both saying is that I'm limited to only importing one MIDI instrument at a time when importing to an Existing Arrangement Template.
There are no options for dragging and dropping or opening a multi-track midi file on an existing Arrangement.
I'm only asking because:
1. I would like to avoid having to always redo my song structure in a new arrangement window.
2. I would like to avoid having to export 20-30 MIDI tracks and drag and drop every single instrument as every track moves in the arranger window.
3. I have to always import my embedded library to the left window of a new arrangement window.
I'm not mean to complain, you may have already answered my question but to make sure I'm just trying to see if there's a way to open a multi-MIDI instrument file on an existing arrangement.
Thanks!

You need not export multiple files. You can export a single file with all tracks. When you do Phrase >> Import you just pick the next track from the same file.

Dropping a multi-track MIDI file would require a pretty complex wizard. Just imagine the hoops you'd need to jump through. Associate target instruments with MIDI file tracks, create new sounds on the fly, etc. And your imported phrases would all go into a single container.
Now you simply create the desired instruments and sounds first, then select an instrument and import a track from the MIDI file and check figure recognition on the parameter inspector. Then you continue with the next instrument.

Ok, thanks for clarifying.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
