Inheritance: Maximum depth of nested containers. In Synfire Express, you have two levels, that is, you can place any number of containers in the root container and then place additional containers inside those, but no deeper. This is sufficient for most popular musical styles. If you want to use container nesting as a means for motif development, you would need Pro.
No idea what this means ..

In synfire you can break your song up into containers, typically intro, verse, chorus, bridge, verse,chorus,outro. But you can call, do what you like with them. The one at the top of the page is the root and you typically have a number underneath them. Child settings override parent settings. Child containers can have children of their own.
In the express version you can only have root then a layer of children and those children can have children but no further.

Containers take the place of HN2 sections. However, they are more powerful because you can 'nest' a sub-section or child container underneath the root container.
If you nest a child container the instruments in the root container continue to play unless an instrument in the root container is present in a child container with a different phrase. Same holds for 'grandchild' containers nested under 'child' containers.
So inheritance means that unless the instrument is changed from the root container in a child/ grandchild container, its sketch/ phrases is inherited by the child/ grandchild containers. (I believe this 3 generational metaphor only applies to Express, whereas Pro has as many begats as in the Old Testament!)
Is this correct?
OR! Does this simply mean that you can add different instruments and phrases in the child/ grandchild and the root instrumentation will continue to play.
Is this correct?
I imagine this is a way to develop a basic theme and instrumentation, but make linear variations.

Once you have learned to leverage containers as a compositional device and feel the need to add more than two levels of nesting, you will have fallen in love with Synfire Pro anyway.
There is plenty room for many great compositions with Express until you reach that point.

Yes, the rootcontainer (parentcontainer) in SFEx are the songsections in HN2, but SFEx gives two nested snapshot containers on top of the rootcontainer more as i understand it now
In theory you can make unlimited snapshot containers ( two nested) on top of the rootcontainer, but in practice is limited the number of container you will use (otherwise you are arranging for ever ..haha) .
Cannot order SFExpress, because the ilok is not in my postbox yet ( can be any moment ).
No problem i am busy with our webshop...the taxrates are going from 19 % to 21 % and the prices of almost 2600 products must be adjusted.. so i must do some little programming tasks as far i can handle it

If i order now SFExpres than this I lok 2 dongle will be attached to it?
I ordered SFexp!! , the dongle is damaged on the outside ( i don't like that , but it is not a problem ..it is the label area..i cover this with a sticker for now )
