Any known issues or tricks with midi export?
I just got around to exporting a midi file for the first time on my studio install. There were 8 instruments, but the export only contained two ... the first and the last in the rack. I did this 3 times each time using different options, including trying to export a Type 0 SMF.
Each time the track when opened in Cubase had the same two tracks ... even when I tried to export a Type 0 file.
This happened on my Win 7 x64 desktop. I went to my laptop, Win XP x86, and tried to export a song and got the normal, expected result.
At export of the incomplete file, all the instruments were visible and triggering the midi as expected.
Both installs are the latest 2.6.2.

No. I tried all 3 export variations, including the one I assume is Type 0.
In each case the file was rendered with the same two tracks ... the first and last instruments.
I will try a little more trouble shooting later. Need to go at the moment.

I have issues sometimes on my mac - importing into Logic.. The last time it was two tracks. I also get a 'conflict message' which Supertonic says is a very generic error message, and doesn't really tell much. Often it will export a file and then make some notes 30 measures wrong (easy to fix with note overlap correction.
Other times SFP exports fine..
You might try saving the instrument phrase to a library temporarily or just copying it.. Deleting and then creating a new instrument and paste/put phrase back in, and see if there's a difference. Don't know what the ramifications would be, except it might help Andre to correct.
If you started by importing a midi file. import using a different device and then reroute, or import an instrument at a time..Pad the file with extra tracks and see what comes thru on export....
If that doesn't work swear at computer and give it a good whack, it's just being stubborn... My computer 'Missie" has her time of the month cycles, and I know she's going to be a bitch to work with for a few days...

Yes, some weirdness ... it was late last night when I was trying this. As I said, I repeated what I did 3 times with 'save as' in the same file using different options from the export dialog in HN2.
I rebooted, tried to open the mid file in a different program ... and it opened perfectly. Then went back to Cubase and 'voila' ... there was my file just as it should be.
Obviously some quirk in importing to Cubase under the total environment of that moment.

I import a LOT of midi files, and so far SFP is the only program to have some occassional problems. But for me, if there is a problem, thre continues to be a problem. (it doesn't come n go.. Also will have to try to tests, to help pinpoint it.
