I really want to try moving some of my smaller templates for pop/rock into exclusively Synfire as it's so helpfull to quickly get ideas up and running without loading my 384 track monster template, DAW, loading up a configuration on one of my slaves etc.. takes to long if you quickly need to get an idea out of your head.
Up until now I've just fired MIDI out of synfire to LoopBE30 and picked that up in my DAW which is hosting my plugins.
For Vienna Ensemble PRO5 you have to use multiple outs or else you can't mix or add effects without going remote over the network and physically changing things on the slaves, as it is you can't even hear anything that's not on master out 1/2 in a VEP5 instance as there's no way I can find to pick the other 32 audio outputs.
Am I missing something?

Drones in a DAW offer multiple stereo outputs that you can pick up and route inside the DAW.
Plugins hosted on Synfire's Engine only provide one stereo output currently. You would need to mix multiple sources inside the plugin, so they all go to the stereo output of the plugin.
Not sure if this answers your question, though.

Yeah I know about the drones, but it was just to have a quick way to fire up Synfire instead of loading DAW and anything to complicated when inspiration strikes.
Is multiple outputs in the agenda for a future version? Wouldn't have to be anything to advanced, just a way to get the audio from the channels so you can at least hear them.
I do most of my composing in Synfire anyway, would be nice to be able to do away with the DAW hosting as I only really use it for hosting my VEP5 plugins, most of the sound rough mix has been done on the VEP5 instances and I never mix in my DAW either, I just render stems to mix in Magix Sequoia or Protools if going to studio.

A simple mixdown of all stereo outputs should be easily doable. I'll consider that.

That would be super, just a simple mixdown of all channels the vst reports would be all that's needed, would be nice if they could have an effect each but any complex routing etc.. is not needed at all, that can be done in VEP5 or kontakt/or whatever sampler you use.
Not only for Synfire users working with VEP5 which is probably a fringe case, but it's also common for kontakt setups with a ton of instruments in one instance, for example LA Scoring Strings you can easily end up with 16 stereo outs if you just have the standard legato, sordino, staccato, spiccato articulations loaded each with section a,b,c and first chair.
I use V-Metal and SC-Guitar a lot and they sound best if using the double tracked versions, but I can't use those in synfire now because they need 2 stereo outputs from the same instance of kontakt.
