Slonimsky meets KIM

Posted

The Slominsky Thesaurus compiles many interval-based melodic patterns, applicable to different harmonic contexts.

Composers use it as building blocks since its inception.

I wonder if Synfires KIM factories could leverage the Thesaurus, use, generate or morph patterns from Slonimsky with KIMs interactive mode of creation?

That's an interesting idea. What comes to mind first is to make a library with those patterns and idioms that you can drop into your arrangement and edit there. Some user might feel compelled to do this and maybe share the result with us.

Using them as melodic units for KIM factories sounds fascinating. Obviously in the year 2023 AD we could also use some modern idioms outside the classical music genre.

I currently don't have much time to do research, so if you can point me to a video or something that could serve as a kind of executive summary, that would be great.
