Ive been using a great max for live tool in ableton live to generate midi which I can export then import into synfire. I think I mentioned it on here before.
Anyway for those that dont have max for live, the developer has just released a standalone version, special introductory price is $10, which is a steal.. USe it to develop some great ideas then import into synfire to turn into a complete tune.

BTW: And yes, Zyklus are the guys that did the Zyklus MPS1 which was
heavily used by Vangelis back in the days and after which he hired them to build some special stuff for him.
