Try a replacement instrument on the VEP server

On the orchestral example in Synfire, I am trying to find a replacement instrument via the 4 global racks that can be connected to the VEP server.

On the global rack in Synfire apparently something is already connected to the VEP server, but does not match the now existing orchestral arrangement in Synfire .

The global racks are for the VEP server then not global ?
How do I get the global racks back to the initial situation and suitable for each arrangement in Synfire ?

Yes, re-create new global racks then..reset would be better

The situation outlined above is resolved and can just use the VEP server global racks for any new arrangement.

Problem now is the pitch of the music.

The orchestral example created by Cognitone with the Vienna Prime instruments is not easy to connect to my existing sound module on the Vienna ensemble pro server.

For example for the Strings 2 (Prime)there is no indication in which octave register was played
( is a problem anyway I thought , because the central c is not unambiguously determined for the Vsti instruments)

If I then set the Strings 2 segment several octaves higher for the VEP sound module , then the instrument can be heard and otherwise not.

Makes it actually impossible to listen to instruments other than the prime sounds
Seems like a huge limitation to me.

The example arrangement file includes device descriptions for VSL Synchron Prime Edition, including their pitch ranges, articulations, etc.

If after opening the file in a different studio Synfire temporarily uses a replacement sound, it keeps the original playing ranges, unless you permanently accept the replacement sound (a button on the parameter inspector).

Once you permanently accepted the replacement sound (or assign a different sound), it will accept the new playing ranges and re-compose the output.

What activates a replacement sound ?

(or assign a different sound)

Yes i did that, but it seems that the segment pitch has a another register

No idea what the location of the segment is for the new replacement strings 2 instrument?
Got I think 2 octaves the segment shifted up and do hear the strings 2, but I think this is not yet the full strings 2 segment which can be heard.
See some keys pressed on keyboard from BBC symphonic orchestra VSt ( is available for free from Spitfire ), but now need to go determine if the segment is played in full by going to change the pitch in Synfire
How do I know if the right pitch of the segment is played in the spitfire bbc s.o vst ?

BBC symphonic orchestra VST

You'll need to create a device description for the sounds provided by this plugin.

You need not worry about octaves. Synfire does that automatically when it renders output. Make sure the total playing range in that device description is correct for each sound.

The BBC symphonic orchestra is loaded on the VEP server and now I just need to see the connection that a device description should be used?

The only device descriptons for the 4 global racks in Synfire that allow (4 midiports) 64 midi channels to be controlled on the VEP server are those for Vienna ensemble pro vst and other 3 for the event plugins.
The VEP server is sending the audio back to Synfire

The idea is to connect a collection of VST instruments on the VEP server through 4 midiports and global racks to Synfire
So I could connect 64 midi channels to Syfire for 64 different vsti ( which is not plausible, but less of course)
With 4 global racks (maximum obtainable) connected to the VEP server there are then 4 device descriptoins to create for KONTAKT sample player anyway and 3 more VSTi.
Is actually far too little, but 4 midi ports in Synfire to connect a VST instrument to ?
The VEP server could have more midi ports than 4 ?

Only 4 midiports it too little, what Synfire offers now
One instance can probably handle for Windows a number of 48  midiports
That number of 48  midiports is a good start for a arrangement setup in Synfire

Looking at a example of a orchestral template in Cubase of 64  instruments for one Kontakt Vsti
So using 4 midiports for this in Synfire
Can Synfire be extended for global racks to get 48 midiports ?
A Vienna ensemble pro vsti can deliver 48 midiports , but now in Synfire actual 4

I Am testing it again and have now set the Vienna ensemble pro vst plugin to 48 midiports and 64 audio outputs via the preferences on the Vienna Ensemble pro server (VEP).
Was previously there seemed to occur in Synfire a limit of no more than 4 midiports with 64 audio outputs.
If 48 midi ports with 64 audio outputs is possible, then there are enough VST instruments available via device descriptors in Synfire to connect to the VEP server.

Apparently Synfire also works with 8 midi ports on the VEP server ( 8 midi ports and 64 audio outputs preference) .
That seems sufficient for an instrument setup via the VEP server.
You can also without VEP server create a global rack to listen to sound quality and Vsti

Synfire can't find a replacement sound for example strings 2 (red color marker), when opening the file
(Why not ,what condition for this?)

If after opening the file in a different studio Synfire temporarily uses a replacement sound, it keeps the original playing ranges, unless you permanently accept the replacement sound (a button on the parameter inspector).

I add a rack with BBC symphonic orchestra with a strings 2 sound
Don't not see if all  notes are pressed on the  BBC so keyboard by Synfire.

I must try to made from this BBC s.o strings 2  sound to be a replacement sound, but how?
