usb midi keyboard - no input selection possible.

Posted

HI ,

im a new user and have an issue with my usb keyboard not wokring correctly with HN.

its listed in the midi input and output setup screen, but the input status lite does not react, and im unable to select ' use this port'

The keyboard ( a korg microkontrol) works perfectly in ableton and any other daw etc. Ive successfully setup the rest of HN, on my mac with iac ports, racks etc and everything works correctly.

My midi monitor shows incoming note/on-off messages, cc etc, and i also attempted to 'hack' my way around this by re routing the keyboards midi  with 'midipipe' software ( to an iac channel, hoping i could use this for an input port in HN) - this works successfully ( from a system midi point of view, as i can see note changes on the  midi monitor, but still no joy in the au&midi setup.

have i missed something obvious.. ?

thanks in advance for assistance..

If the USB driver for your keyboard is Mac OS X compliant, it should be possible to enable "Use This Port For Input". No other prerequisites are required. Make sure you have the keyboard connected before you start HN.

For HN2, there is currently also a limit of eight ports that can be used at the same time. You can disconnect unused IAC ports and try again.

thanks supertonic.. 8 port limit the cause of the problem... all good now..cheers

fyi - found i get much better 'live' performance routing midi to ableton via midipipe, than via IAC which gave me many glitches and was unusable etc. not sure if this is known issue ( and did read it snot recommened for this type of  ) , cant see any posts on this subject.

cheers - lovin HN2 so far.
