Although I haven't downloaded the update yet, (will do shortly). I want to thank you for the speed with which you accomplish things.
Perhaps you have asked in the past, but it might be helpful if all active members gave a short description of their workflow, instruments used (VI and/or Hardware) Are they usng it in conjunction with other software, if yes then how.
I'm happy to say, that I am making headway. I stopped making music with other software for a bit, to learn more about SFP.
Unlike most I suppose, I'm going back/forth between SFP and Logic (another reason hence the long linear files). I may start project in either. I've been recording in Logic, sometimes even use Band In A Box for solo's and Melody ideas. Although they often leave something to be desired. Once in a while, they hit something brilliant. I bring that back into SFP and manipulate more. Back into Logic. My favorite way of workng now is to use the Score page. I like seeing all tracks mapped out in staffs. It's easy to find/fix and 'clams' that have crept into a track. It gives you an overview of a piece like no other edit page does. ( I use arrange, hyper, piano roll too).
I might work this way for several hours, then make all tracks a multi channel MIDI. Import back into SFP. I leave tracks static, so that they perfectly reflect Logic, From there I make more changes, I might even try a few chord substitutions (that is a mind boggling feater) to change the chords and not have to redo every track to accomate changes..
The Yamaha Tyros 4 uses the left hand or a 'chord detect' track Channel 2. It uses this to generate 8 tracks of instruments playing.. And pretty well too. I record all tracks, then I mute some off, and start overdubbing new single tracks. Sometimes I make an alternate chord progression to use for the 'chord detect' track.
I'm gonna start trying that with SFP too, Now I got rewire working (thanx for video, it is so simple) I often have Logic play my previously generated SFP tracks. I link the two applications together and mute all of SFP tracks except the track I'm working on, Now I can hear it exactly as it's gonna sound in finished piece.
I plan on going back/forth between programs for a lot of work. But I sometimes just do it all in SFP too. Its taking a while to grasp and then understand the implications of SFP commands.
If everyone does a short post on their methods, it might help you get a better overview of how you're going to shape the growth of SFP.
Thanx again.
