IMO (and in 2018) points 1, 2 and 8 are mandatory ;-)

4. You can do this with CTRL (on Windows)
5. This is available in the Matrix tab
6. This was suggested a long time ago and as far as I know it's still "on the list"

Thank you petearch. But why Matrix and not Mixer?

The matrix isn't really a mixer. It's a matrix of phrase parameters in the currently selected container. Actually those volume and pan sliders merely generate MIDI messages. Synfire will never replace a DAW, or even attempt to keep up with them. That's not the focus and all those DAWs out there can already do it to perfection.
I see how the mixer and DAW analogy can be tempting as a simplification, but the more Synfire would be made to look like a DAW, the more users would expect it to behave like one, which it simply isn't. It's a creative tool to assemble scores in a structured and parametric fashion. Any DAW-ish design would lead users even further away from its powerful core concept, back to the flat and linear world of tracks and faders.
Most major DAWs can handle video very well. All you need to do is synch them with Synfire.
Regarding key changes, that's all included with the Harmony parameter. You can jump to as many keys in as little time you like.
Same for the Scheme parameter, which includes time signature changes. The whole idea is to have these things fully parametric and not hard-wired in some special track.
The multi-instrument lasso selection is quite interesting, albeit extremely difficult to do. Synfire does not yet have a concept that would allow editing multiple phrases in one go. It's worth thinking about.

Thank you Andre, I discovered the Matrix, finally... Why don't you get rid of lots of secondary editors and keep just those under the Matrix tab? This is a very practical, all-in-one window!

PS -- and, please, in the next Synfire add lots of user definable keyboard shortcuts!
