Ok, I removed all those font registrations I did and Synfire still looks fine.
Resumee: The stale "Roboto-..." font entries in my registry most probably were the reason for the problem.
Maybe Windows primarily looks into the registry for fonts and if a registered font is not found it does not look further (what it should imho).
@janamdo: Synfire installs its fonts into "C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Synfire\System\Fonts"
@janamdo: Forget about those registrations in the registry, those registrations were established by myself to overcome the problem I had (see the whole thread starting with discosleepy's entry if you want to know more about that). It turned out that those registrations done by myself are not necessary.
My problem was not that the fonts didn't install. They were installed fine - no error message like yours.
Only Synfire later did not load them due to stale font entries in the Windows registry.
I'm not sure your problem is the same.
Can you find a folder "C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Synfire\System\Fonts" with 18 files in it?
@Kiamo, thanks. Synfire is not allowed to install on my computer : error-sharing-violation with the roboto_medium.tff f666:... item installation failed.
If it stops at writing the font files, it has likely to do with file permissions. The folder these files are written to is not a Windows system folder. If it can't write there, a parent folder is locked or something.
@janamdo: I'd suggest to uninstall Synfire and after that manually remove C:\Program Files\Cognitone.
Maybe s.th. in this folder has become corrupt.
And then try a new install.
Sorry but that's my last idea otherwise Cognitone to the rescue.
@Kiano, Thought I had uninstalled Synfire, but turned out to still have an installation?
Thanks to your instructions the problem is solved.
Synfire is installed correctly again
I had moderate success today in writing a track. I was using 17 drones in Ableton live 11 but only using 3 or 4 at a time. I found myself having to rest the audio/midi system every few minutes. In the end something happened to a drone where it went offline and now I cant open the Ableton file at all. Not sure if this is a drone problem or a plugin problem with Waves Wurli.
In windows : Dragging an instrument header from an arrangement to the snippets editor does not work.
Don't get a rectangle of the instrument header to drag ?
Drag and drop instrument header on a 2nd column in the snippets grid , so that the instrument name is adopted in the snippet 1st column (the instrument ) does not work yet.
Bug: dragging a container from one arrangement to another no longer works. Nothing happens, the highlight on the timeline representing the span of the drop remains highlighted.
Expected behaviour: Synfire pop up screen asking how to map instruments across.
dragging a container from one arrangement to another no longer works
This has been removed. Too many side effects and hoops to jump though. The suggested workflow now is to drag-copy phrases indidvidually, which also involves copying of the sound, etc.
Oh, that's a shame. I used to merge separate arrangements to create bigger tracks in a more manageable way. Recreating the arrangement structure with aliases etc. is going to be a pain. Will need to think of another workflow.
Setting up each track in the former container import dialog, considering all side effects, which parameters to inherit, which to copy, which instruments to assign, what to drop, was more effort than a simple per-track drag & drop that it is now.
While you need to make basically the same decisions, you now are able to navigate the arrangement freely while you do so to support them. And you enjoy the assistance of the Wizard for every track.

Can't confirm this. It was a few clicks and for me it worked very well. I also will miss that feature.
Could you consider just reintegrating the old container import dialog box as "experimental feature"? No need to make it working perfectly under all circumstances. Just to enable our old workflows again. To be honest, I see the proposed new workflow as a step backwards. Drag each track separately and go through the wizard?
Inserting a Harmony Template from the Preview Templates in the Harmony Parameter of Snippets lets Synfire crash. I have sent a crash report. Occurs only in the Harmony Outlet of Snippets. All other work properly.
Parameter Time: Cue positions can do change with tempo changes, but not in an expected way and seemingly not even consistently. For example, it seems that different global tempi can even lead to the Time cue positioned at the same metric time, and vice versa.
If you can show me an example what kind of containers you imported and for what purpose, that might help.
It is really non-trivial with all the copying of rack modules, reassignment of phrases etc in the background. The old code looks like a spaghetti nightmare. Doing it right would involve a clean rewrite with dedicated classes and data models.

Ah, ok. I didn't know that just reintegrating the old container import dialog is not an option. However, I consider this topic to be relatively important. You can actually say that it was one of the main features that made the difference between Synfire Pro and Express.
Since this is not a bug, I will write a separate thread about the use of this feature in my workflow. I have also an idea for a possible solution, that would work at least for my workflow. So you will find that in the section "feature suggestion".

Yes, it worked really efficiently for me as well.
However, it sounds like it was a nightmare to program. Maybe there's a better way for this. I was thinking
Option B: drag and drop for containers (including any child containers they have) to the library could be an even better way forward.
Option C: containers that reference containers in other files would be extremely cool.
