Has something to do with security ?

Which audio folder?

The Windows installer sometimes doesn't install the engine. Uninstall the engine using Windows control panel and also delete that audio folder. Then reinstall.

Found a support case with a similar problem. There is possibly an old MSI of Synfire set aside somewhere by Windows that makes the installer think the Engine is already installed.
You need to uninstall and reinstall Synfire.
Make a full backup first just in case.
Use the Apps control panel of Windows settings to remove both Synfire and Audio Engine.
Remove:
C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Synfire
C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Audio
C:\ProgramData\Cognitone\Setup (may be hidden)
Install Synfre again

Get the same screen again : Unable to launch Audio Engine ....
There is no Audio engine folder in Cognitone folder.
What could prevent generating this ?
Programdata is a hidden folder, make it public ?

The engine doesnt get installed because the installer thinks the current version is already installed. Did you remove it from the Apps list in control panel and delete said folders?

Yes, i removed it , there are no apps : cognitone, synfire and audio to be found and on windows with search : cognitone, synfire and audio not existing
Seems to be there there all is deleted ?
Let me try to install again ..
no,..the same error again : Unable to launch
space reguired : 112 Mb ?
i can't remember : i quit audio engines on windows taskbar , or deleted ? ..for a reinstall of th elatest version

That image shows the SETUP program. The engine is installed by a native Windows installer that also includes the SETUP program.

If there is no
C:\Program Files\Cognitone\Audio\Engine.exe
the engine was not installed

could be security ..triggered to spot .exe. files ?
No audio folder added

You can try and install while virus protection is disabled

This seems to happen only to a few long time users that have installed many updates already.
Check C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\Cognitone and sub directories for any old MSI files that may be lingering there and delete them.

Seems that i must look under the hood of windows 11 to get a log file for installation..

So, running the Microsoft tool solved the problem?
Mo., 10.03.2025 - 18:48 Permalink
Yes, that's right , the audio engine showed up in the little programme and did the repair
Otherwise it could be a nasty problem to solve, so i am happy with it
