The Rack Module Library of the Global Rack has a "Global Mix" section which include an item "Engine1 Master Bus". I presume (altough I didn't test it) it can be used to adjust the master volume of the Global Rack. But at the arrangement rack library such an item is missing. Is there a specific reason for that?
I currently work with an arrangement which includes about 20 instruments and I need to reduce the master volume a bit. It seems to me that this is a task that is not as easy to do as one might think. Do I really have to adjust the volume of each individual instrument separately? That would probably destroy the mix.

You need a MASTER module on the global rack. Its volume is then controlled by the master fader on the Matrix page of the arrangement. You'll find a preset for that module on the global rack's browser only (it can't be added to an arrangement rack)

The arrangement rack should probably also show all modules of the global rack (in a different color), so one doesn't have to switch windows. I vaguely remember there have been issues with updates when multiple arrangements are open at the same time.
There's an option View >> Global Sounds but that doesn't add the MASTER and AUX presets to the browser. Probably a bug.

I tried this, but it doesn't work. If I add an Engine 1 Master Bus to the Global rack, neither the Gain Knob on that module nor the Master Volume slider on the Matrix page have any effect on the arrangement volume. And I think, it wouldn't be an appropriate solution anyway. It would mean, that it's not sufficient to just open the arrangement file, but also the appropriate global rack file would need to be opened to make it work, wouldn't it? I just want to open the arrangement file and hit the play button, not more or less.
Anyway, I will go with the Gain knobs at the indiviual arrangement rack modules then.

Is not possible to add a master plug in for a rack with 16 instruments and add a reverb as sent to the 16 midi channels?, or adding individual fx on the the tracks
Its somewhere hidden in Synfire ...? i remember vaguely

The "Master" fader on the Arrange rack controls the Gain knob on the MASTER module of the global rack (graphics is not instantly updated, but that's only a cosmetic bug). Just checked and it controls master output volume as expected.

I'm happy for you, but for me this knob or slider doesn't do anything. Maybe, it depends on the sound driver you use?
But as I said, this solution via the global rack is not an option anyway. At the moment I'll stick with the gain knobs on the arrangement modules.

There are two free lightweight orchestral vst for composing and there is for both a device description.
Only using the synthesizers plugin is not needed for a demo

The master volume fader seems to be not working here too?
Has nothing to do with Windows or Mac computer
Note: there is not a effect module loaded in the master rack , but that seems to me not neccessary condition for the master fader to control the volume

I think, it's actually a very important part of the concept of a demo song that it runs without any additional third party plugins or any sophisticated things that a user needs to do (such as loading a global rack or stuff or like that) to make it work. It should run on a fresh Synfire installation.
I'm doing progress with this "demo song", btw. Mixing and a bit of automation to get a more lively sound still needs to be done. Unfortunately, these are tasks that Synfire is not really made for. If this were a normal project, I would now switch to a DAW and continue there. But that's not an option here and therefore this is my first project which is made entirely in Synfire, without any additional software or plugins. Quite an interesting experience, actually.

Yes, indeed if you look at it that way, you are absolutely right.
A new user of Synfire doesn't know anything yet.
