LilyPond makes very beautiful prints. It is not commonly used for data exchange like MusicXML (not that I know of).
If you want to print a score directly from Synfire Pro, you may want to try LilyPond. The exported source code can be edited before printing. LilyPond makes a PDF off it.

Thanks Andre!
Lilypond score looks good - my staves are there however its exporting single treble clef with common time and no staff at the top of the page?
This is the container clef?
I'll have to learn lilypond ...do you recommend a lilypond gui editor?

Can't say much about LilyPond editors, because I never used them. With a little tweaking, you can get good looking lead sheets directly from Synfire.
Time signture is constant per container. Notation export settings are global per instrument. Check the switch "Merge with previous Instrument", if you want multiple instruments to appear on the same staff.

For anyone who might encounter this - the lilypond version sfp outputs is 2.10.10 and i was running 2.16.2
apparently you can run from command prompt and update the .ly files...couldnt get that to work so i uninstalled 2.16.2 and installed 2.10.33 - i'm in the ballpark now.
would be great to have sfp output more recent version of lilypond
cheers -
