Record midi from Rewire or IAC into Synfire?

Make sure that in the devices setup screens you specify the virtual midi canel as an input. Not sure how to do it using the drones...

Synfire can only record one phrase at a time and instruments do not correspond to DAW tracks. There may be multiple instruments on the same track.

Setting up a mapping in an extra window telling Synfire which inputs go to which instruments using which settings is probably the same amount of work as export and import.

There is no latency (timing Synfire and DAW ) and starting at the right measure problems than ?
I presume that you work two recording directions.

Is probably limited in use for clasical composing when you are using articulations
In the near future Cubase comes with a improved articulation system i believe.
Realtime recording for articulations is not the right workflow so it must be edited first in Cubase ...than you can try to record the whole arrangement into Synfire, but it is not to be recognised anymore by Synfire ( you don't get the same music in Cubase and Synfire..that is always the case with synfire because it is interpreted by the musical AI )

Also all the midi information from the classical recorded piece in Cubase is not General Midi format so Synfire uses only GM data
So recording what you want is only suitable for GM (general midi ) and is a basis for further additions

I like the idea that you can use also your DAW for composing like you did before, when you start to use Synfire.
Therefore getting ( be possible to get) the same patternstructure from your DAW into Synfire can be very useful to get a 1-1 correspondence.

Millions of DAW arrangements can be easily be followed in Synfire and than further enhanced with the AI of Synfire
All people using DAWS can extend this with Synfire capabilities.

2-You decide that part or phrase midi you want to record  without the need to export or import the midi file full 

You don't need to import a MIDI file entirely. You can also import a part of it. Use the "Offset" and "Length" input fields at the MIDI import window.
