Any info on how to use the 'Insert FX' of the Cognitone Audio Engine?

Posted

Good evening,

Can anyone please give me some guidance on how to use the 'Insert FX' of the Cognitone Audio Engine? I can't get it to work. The manual doesn't mention it, and one of the tutorial videos covers using 'AUX', but not the Insert FX.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum!

This feature is actually not yet complete. We missed removing traces of it from the code until it's done. While the Insert FX basically already works (Audio Engine), there is no intuitive user interface for it at the Synfire end at this moment. This is on our list for the next update.

You can experiment with it in the meanwhile:

  1. Select the audio port you want to insert a new FX into
  2. Right-click and choose Set effect (Insert)
  3. A new port appears with light blue color: Load your effect plug-in here

Note that this only works on the shared rack at this time. We plan on insert support also on a per project basis.

Hi Andre,

First of all: thank you for envisioning and developing such a revolutionary and wonderful program. I've been working with SFP now for about 3 months: challenged, relieved, thrilled, fulfilled and addicted are words that come to mind when describing my user experience.

Second: thanks for your reply to my question and helping me out; it works exactly as you described.

Third (and last, for now.. :-D .): I look forward to future developments and optimizations. I have - of course - some suggestions of my own, which I will post at the relevant forum section as soon as I've got them organized and prioritized. Therefore: is there a sticky somewhere at the forum where (definitive and optional) upcoming changes are posted, so I can refrain from making obsolete comments?

Best regards,

Jim
