Can i add a template chordprogression in a existing one

Posted

I do have a chordprogression in the arrangement view and after bar 9 i do want to chance (extend ) the existing progression with a template progression
Is this possible in Synfire ?

i made start with this http://soundcloud.com/janamdo/start100bpm-cmin-mid and this must developed in attractive song after a intro.to be continued
( i like to add a template chordprogression after the intro progression for the sections and experiment with this, but i can't get this functionality in Synfire )

Can i add a template chordprogression in a existing one

Of course you can. There are several ways to achieve that, but I would do the following: Store the template progression in a new temporary container. Place that container at that position in your arrangement where the progression should be inserted or added. Then select the original container and make a snapshot of the harmony parameter. The template progression will then be inserted at the position of your temporary container. The temporary container can then be deleted.

In this case i like to have no containers involved and work with the master progression for now.
So there is the chordprogression under in the  arrangementwindow.. i like to extend this progression with a template progression at a any choosen measure number.

When i do it now the whole progression is replaced with the template progression..

go to Config / Progressions  folder
double click and open that template and copy/paste to the Arrangement .

Yes, when you select the template progression directly at the parameter inspector, then the whole harmony parameter (progression) will be replaced. That's why I have suggested the workaround with an temporary container.

I have tried to upload an animated Gif to demonstrate it, but for some reason it does not work anymore (the uploaded Gif did not animate). But soundcase's suggestion is easier anyway.

Thanks Juergen

I like to see a easier chord template building and adding these template directly in random position to a existing progression
In first instance ..without container ..to keep it simple for building up the skeleton of the arrangement :)

Thanks Soundcase

It works, but it is not a streamlined workflow  (not userfriendly)
The whole process of making a own chordtemplate seems to be userunfriendly in the arrangementscreen
( there is no button : make template )..it is possible somewhere hidden in the program ? ..it is a mesh the progressionhandling

Thanks Soundcase!

Perhaps you can add this to a WIKI page on the Conitone website about objectdock ..

It is all about organizing..

Yes, templates it is in the progression editor, while you add the template in the arrangementwindow..some guiding from the arrangement window ( a button :make template) to go directly to the templatebuilding..

All those facts to remember is exhausting.. ( for me) .. i am still amazed how limited Synfire pro is and userunfriendly..shocking.
Is this sloppy  programmed  ?

I haven't tried it but couldn't you also build the progression, in a progression window. copy original, and paste different sections.. Then just copy the whole progression, and paste on chords in the main arrangement window.  ??

Thanks Mark

Making templates there in the progression window and copy and paste from there in the arrangement window
Then you can also existing template progression open in the progressionwindow and from there copy and paste in arrangemenentwindow
In the arrangementwindow from the existing templates copy and paste in a progression works faster ?

I make a chance on a existing http://soundcloud.com/janamdo/01-100bpm-cmin-mid-2
