Change 'New Song' default to eliminate 'protected' melody instrument?

Posted

When I have a song I'm working on open and I open a new song, the current sketch gets carried over.

However, since the new song always opens with a 'protected' melody instrument, if I already have 8 instruments, one gets left behind.

How can I change the default behavior so a new song opens without any instrumetns? Or, if I cannot do that, how do I change that default 'Melody' to unprotected so it can be replaced by the 8 instruments in my sketch?

Thanks.

That doesn't do what I want. I want no protected instrument when I open HN2 as default behavior. Otherwise, every time I open the program it presents a song with 'Melody' as a protected instrument.

Since the new song opens to the progression, I must remember to to switch to the instruments window, then click to 'unprotect' and then click to 'remove.' Three annoying steps which serve no purpose.

I don't really understand why anyone would want a protected instrument as default or ... for that matter ... any instrument at all prior to selecting their sketch. If code requires the presence of one instrument for a song, then at least if it were unprotected, none of these steps would be necessary.

Can this default behavior be changed by the user either to opening the program an 'new song' with either no instrument or no protected instrument?
