What version of Synfire Pro is best for Cubase 9.5 Pro users?
Thanks,

Hello, Bill,
I guess you are mainly concerned with the ReWire compatibility. However, it's actually Cubase that underwent some changes recently which broke the ReWire sync between Synfire and Cubase. So, I would say that for Cubase 9.5 the most recent Synfire is the best. On the other hand, Synfire currently works best with Cubase 9.0 or lower. Of course, we can hope for a patch - either for Cubase 9.5 or for Synfire 1.8.5 - which would fix the ReWire issue.
Best regards
Miloslav

Cubase happens to misbehave because our ReWire plugin is named "Transport".
Since Steinberg did not respond to bug reports yet, we consider renaming it to "Transporx", which will make it work with Cubase again (no joke). Don't hold your breath though, as the next update will still take some time to complete.
Your best bet is to file a bug report with Steinberg. The more reports they get, the more likely they will fix it.

Wouldn't it be better to name it TransportSFP, or something similar to make it unique and identifiable to Synfire?

Well, that suggested name actually is a joke. Could have been "Transfart" as well. Of course will we choose a more sensible name ;-)

As suggested in another thread, hacking the ReWire plugin with a Hex editor might mitigate the issue: Replace "Transport" with "Transporx" inside the file's binary contents (no need to rename the file) and it might do the trick for Cubase 9.5.2. Be sure to backup the file first, though.
