For me, Synfire Pro will not launch properly without an external midi device plugged in (Engine fails to connect). I am on a MacBookPro intel OS 13.3.1. Is this normal? This has been the case for months and I can’t seem to find a simple solution, if there is one. I usually am plugged in to a midi keyboard and can power it on, so it’s not a big inconvenience unless I want to use Synfire away from home. I don’t recall having this problem in past iterations of synfire. Any suggestions appreciated.

You don't need an external MIDI keyboard. If the Engine refuses to connect, it must be something else (Firewall?).

hmmm... I checked my Firewall and for some reason had two Engines (all connections allowed). I don't know why, or if this was the issue. I deleted both and then re-added Engine in MacHD/LbraryApplication Support/Cognitone. Now works, I think. Thank you for the suggestion, this problem has plagued me for some time...
