Mute Buttons Work Only Intermittently

Posted

W11, Synfire 2.2.4b2.

The mute buttons in the Instrument track headers work sometimes, and then they don't. I checked this on multiple instruments.

I quit Synfire and re-opened my project, and the mute buttons worked. Then a few minutes later they again didn't.

No big deal...I can use the "W" buttons (inactivate/disable), but I thought I should post a bug report.

I have the same problem. Also with Solo.
Muting/Soloing while playback works. But as soon as i stop playback und set the mute/solo buttons, they're ignored next time im press play.

This is one of those seemingly trivial issues that can sometimes take days, if not weeks, to track down and fix. The code looks 100% simple and nevertheless state is randomly lost.

I just say this to lower you expectations for now ;-)

External synch with DAWs took precedence the past days and ReWire will finally be replaced with the next update. Works surprisingly well.

That raises my expectations to the extreme :)

Maybe the same thing, maybe different, but what I'm observing is that a track I mute in the arrangement won't stay muted.

It turns itself back on and starts sounding again, seemingly (but probably not actually) randomly, while I'm trying to work with other tracks (e.g. to apply variations).    All the while, the Mute button remains red.  I have to cycle the Mute button to recover.

Just to report, with 2.4.1, I am still observing in Snippets that muting or soloing an Instrument is not reliably "sticky".

IOW, rolling the dice (sometimes), or other operations (sometimes) will result in Instruments sounding or not contrary to the explicit Mute/Solo settings made by the user.

Potential difficulty to fix - acknowledged!
