V 1.10.3 Build #12 on Win 10 64
After saving / auto-backup or starting for the first time, the program is unresponsive for a lenthy duration between initiation of playback or playbar location and the execution. After first sucessful execution, subsequent initiations occur within in the expected amount of time.

This is most likely not synfire's fault. I experience exactly this behaviour with most other software on Win 10 too.
It might perhaps have sth to do with a long lasting system protection check (programs writing files - potentially evil stuff ;-)

I use Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Sony Vegas, Davinci Resolve, Ableton Live & Samplitude Sequoia on a daily basis within Windows 10 and none of these programs suffer any such anomalies. From my perspective this is firmly a Synfire issue.

Thanks for reporting. We'll have a look into this and your other issues and report back.

This is primarily a work-flow issue. Having to break for one minute plus every time the program executes a save / backup can be disruptive.

Are you running many plug-ins on the arrangement rack?
Save time goes up with larger numbers of plug-ins that all need to save their data. If you have a lot of plug-is on the arrangement rack, saving might take some time. Especially with plug-ins that invalidate their internal state often.
Otherwise saving is a light-weight operation.

As of 1.10.5 build#5 saving in Windows appears to be much faster, is that possible? Program stil has a little lag before initiating first playback after save or upon open but it's now MUCH more responsive so no big deal for me.

As of the latest version this problem is resolved.
