Dear all,
I would like to start my first post here by stating that Synfire is great! I have been using very many computer-aided composition environments and various editing tools (DAW, music notation) -- this software truely adds something substantially new.
Perhaps my main gripe with Synfire is that it favours music, which is rhythmically relatively simple, i.e. music that uses plain note values, dotted notes or at most triplets.
Music notation export of more complex tuplets would be very useful. I am not even asking for nested tuplets, but at least plain quintuplets and septuplet be very useful, and so would be grace notes (one or more notes under a certain duration), and arbitrarily tied notes. Such note values are important even for traditional music.
Attached is an example. When importing such music into Synfire, the music notation export clearly struggles and distorts the original rhythm.
Similarly, the quantisation in the editor is limited to simple note values (no quintuplets, septuplet etc.).
Best,
Torsten
