Too many accounts maybe???

Posted

As a suggestion,

Is there any way of having just One Account that can log users into their (downloads/updates) “My Account” page and the “Forums”?

As you know, the synfire.com "Forum" requires a more sensitive password and screen name that differs from "My Account" page on the cognitone.com website.

I didn't realize it prior to signing up, but now I have Two different usernames and passwords just for One product?

It does become a bit annoying when I’m in "My account" page checking for updates and then clicking on the support/Forum link being kicked off and having to log back in with another name just to use the forum.

I rarely login to the "My Accounts" page at the cognitone.com website but when I have to download important updates, I end up forgetting the username and password or mix it up with the "Forums" username and password or even another name from another website.

Like myself, many users have many account's online and to keep up with two for just one product is a bit much.

I don't want to use my email address as a user name for the forum, but a one-time sign in would be great if you’re screen name in the "Forum” and "My Accounts" section" is automatically linked after logging in just once!

Hi Mike,

you can use the same login name, but should use a different password. IIRC, you can change your login name here. You can also choose to stay logged in, or save the login form with your browser's auto-complete feature.

This is for security reasons. The forum site is under constant attack by countless bots and scripts all day long. Since this site uses an open source CMS with known URLs and content, the scripts can collect their targets via Google. It is likely the site will eventually be hacked, sooner or later. Hopefully later, or never, who knows.

Aha, understood Andre.

I didn't know things like that happen so thanks for explaining.

After getting bombarded with even more spam than usual, and spam that was reflecting websites I went to.  I got a program called 'ghosties' for the mac.. when ever you go to a site, it will show you a list of how many apps are trying to get information off your computer.. Some sites have over six.. Ghosties,  will refuse to give out any info, unless you check it in an 'ok to pass box'..
