Hi
It would be great ,in the phrase window, to have the option of visual grid to compose or edit with more easily and precision with the pencil tool.
If you choose in synfire toolbar for example snap to 1/32 and choose the line drawing for draw notes first you dont see the real possible positions in that grid because the grid not suited, not change,is always in 1/4 grid and second if you draw a note you don´t now visually where position is and if you open the inspector view you will see the velocity value, the length and the pitch values but not the position values.
I think with a visual grid adapted to the snap choosen in the toolbar and position in inspector view would be more easy to create and edit melodies and rhythmic patterns
Cheers

+1, but be patient, it's only been 'on the list' since February 2014

It may not be obvious and it's certainly exotic, but this requires a complete rewrite of the code that manages and displays metric information.
Currently the lines you see are aren't a "visible grid". They are real objects. That is, if the user interface wouldn't block access to it, you could actually grab and move or delete each vertical line you see. This is rooted in a concept of fluid and editable rhythm that was abandoned long ago. The code is still around and needs a rewrite.

In other words, 'forget about it' .

Why so pessimistic?
It's already done. I hacked a way around it, which seems to work.
