Hey all,
what's the best way to modulate back to the original key?
Let's say I modulate from Cm (D) to Gm (S) via VI-V-I, VII-V-I or whatever,
what's the standart way to modulate back from Gm (S) to Cm (D)?
(I can modulate easily to whatever key I like if I use the (S), but to get back
from the (S) to the original (D) one always sounds a bit iffy to me.
Not as fluid so to speak...)
Thanks,
tL.

I don't remember any "standard" way of doing this, but my workflow would be to open a palette on each key, highlight the chords they have in common (there's a menu item for that), "freeze" display so highlights won't go away, then play around with the highlighted chords to find 2 of those chords + the dominant of the first key (V).
This will give you a standard V-I motion back to the first key, which is most commonly recognized.
Provided of course, your progression starts with I. This however isn't always necessary. Experiment with it.
