The video demonstrates, that the articulation lanes of Cubase can be used to acess different instrument articulations while running a Synfire project. Cubase (left side) and Synfire (right side) are synched via Rewire and the VSTi is loaded into a Cognitone Drone in Cubase.
I am wondering how you made this setup ?

The setup is nothing special. All you have to do is:
- Load your VSTi into a drone in Cubase and load the desired instrument into the VSTi
- make sure that the input of the drone is set to 'Merge'. This way the drone will receive input data from Synfire and from Cubase
- Create an Expression Map in Cubase where you define your articulation keyswitches
- Create a MIDI track in Cubase and connect it to the drone.
- Create an empty MIDI part at the MIDI track (in this MIDI part you will enter your articulations)
- Connect an instrument in Synfire with the drone at cubase
- Make sure that the Rewire synchronisation between Cubase and Synfire is activated.
- Open the the created MIDI track of Cubase with the key editor and enter the articulations as usual. You don't have to enter any notes there as the notes will be played by Synfire. But of course you have to make sure that the positions (measure, beat) of the articulations correspond with the positions of the notes in Synfire. NOTE: If you move the notes in the Synfire arrangement (the container) you will of course have to move the MIDI part in Cubase with the articulations accordingly.
Maybe this all sounds difficult, but actually it isn't. I've created a new video:
