Control Synfire Pro from Ipad

Posted

Hi
I have started to use this app on the Ipad to control the all the keyboard shortcuts I found in Synfire Pro. It works very nice and can be used for all programs.

Actions for Ipad

Here is some screenshots from the ipad

Here is a video showing Actions for Ipad with other programs, but its the same with Synfire Pro

Wow, that's cool! I've experimented with Novation Launchpad in combination with Bome's Midi Translator but this lacks due to missing graphical or text-based representation on the Launchpad-device. One simply can't remember all of the assignments. But this looks very good also because it switches with the program you're running. Great find, thanks!

Hi
@blacksun yes, but its very easy and once you have done it, it's there and it knows it is Synfire you are working with, it even starts Synfire with a touch of one of the buttons

Hi
@Pauli Zwo
It's more easily than Bome's Midi Translator, but not as advanced and the graphical buttons make it easy to see what funktion each button have.

Thanks RSI.  This is a great app.  I picked it up.  This going to be very useful with Synfire and other audio apps I have.

I've picked up a copy too, tried it with the builtin ableton template which needs a bit of work in my opinion to lay it out better but all the shortcuts are there. Love the way it switches between the apps automatically.
Thanks for the heads up on this..

Grabbed this app, too. Very smooth behaviour. In addition, this post made me look for some more fun stuff and found this:

Palette running on an iPad powered by "Air Display" (the free version) while sitting on my couch. :-D
It also works with any program/window that you drag onto the ipad. Tried it with a soft synth and a paint program. Besides a minimal lag everything's fine.

I've had Air Display for a while now.  My intention was to do the very same thing they show in the video.  I just haven't got around to it yet.  Thanks for the proof of concept!!!

Unfortunately it isn't capable of recognizing simultaneous finger movements, e.g. controlling more than one fader of a DAW mixer window. It provides mouse pointer drags and left clicks (but not right click!) and a keyboard. Plus there's no option to zoom which makes small gui operation tedious. But...it's free! And it really works like an additional (touch-)screen.

Hi

@Pauli Zwo, maybe a combination of Actions for Ipad and Bome's Midi Translator will be even better? Buttons on the Ipad sending qwerty to Bome's Midi Translator who translate it to control Synfire in a even more advanced way.

Yep, I'm starting to see the potential of this killer combo.  :-)

Already voted for character sequences, sharing sets (which will enable you to share your hard work on your synfire-action-set) and own icon styling/uploading in their suggestions board.

Again: great find. Thanks.

Looks great, bought it, it's on a limited time offer now !
But where can I find a detailed list of all SF's keycommands ?
Thanks for the tip !

Hi

@Phy6, the way I did it, was going through the menus in Synfire, looking for shortcuts. I did also click on every button and in all the combinations I could think of, to look for hidden shortcuts.

There must be a list of shortcuts.
It's not in the manual.
I made a thread about this a while ago, but still haven't seen a list.
Sometimes when pushing a keycombo, you are not aware of what changes.
Why don't they just produce a list of them, would speed up the workflow !
