Just as we have with snippets, I would like to have a "Make Arrangement From Last Session" feature for live sessions of Sketches (palette surfing with simultaneous parameter editing at the sketch). So far you can only record the progression, but no parameter changes (at least I haven't found that).
Wouldn't it actually be possible to combine the two apps (Sketches and Snippets) into one? Would make sense to me.

Which parameters besides Harmony do you edit while playing a Sketch?

All parameters for which it makes sense, i.e. which can be changed quickly during the live session. So at least: Pause, Transpose (changing the value with the slider), Variation (inserting templates and pressing the "New Variation" button) and probably also the Rhythm parameters (Skip,, Step, etc.).
To be honest, I only found out yesterday that it is possible at all to manipulate parameters during the live session. This opens up a whole new world. But unfortunately, after the session is ended, it's all gone.

Ah ok, you keep the Sketch editor open all the time. Never did this myself. Interesting hidden feature.
I doubt it makes sense to record all this, because it would be hard to track and compile into an arrangement. Snippets are much easier because they have well-defined transitions.

Yes, that's how I did it. I also never did this before and was really surprised that it actually works.
I tried it out because I was curious what the feature comparison for sketches on the Cognitone website meant. For Sparks it is stated that you can "Create & Play" sketches and for Express and Pro the sketches are specified as "Fully Editable". That' s what interested me, I thought it was a new feature of Synfire 2. So far, with Synfire 1 I have really only created and played sketches.

I understand that not all parameters are suitable for recording. Live editing of a Figure is certainly not recordable. But it should be no problem to record switching processes (Pause parameter), the insertion of templates (Variation, etc.) or the adjustment of sliders (Transpose).
Snippets are much easier because they have well-defined transitions.
I agree that snippets provide similar functionality and are more powerful than sketches in many ways. But snippets have a different approach. First of all, they lack the possibility of "palette surfing".

Just to clarify what I'm talking about, I made a screen capture of such a live session:
The track would certainly need some editing, but that's not possible because it's "gone with the wind". None of these parameter changes are recorded, everything is gone.
The phrases, by the way, are all from the Factories. The whole thing was meant as a "Factory test" :)

Cool session ;-)
But indeed, this kind of live arrangement is what Snippets are meant for. Although there is no phrase editor on the Snippets page one could use to alter parameter values.
Currently only the snippet on/off switches are recorded. Whatever parameters are edited in between, only there last known values will be used to create the arragement.
