Hi
I want to relocate three channels (violin-viola-cello) of the same kontakt into Reaper drones
I have followed the same steps as in this video mixed with the Synfire-Reaper video
First i have opened Reaper, second Synfire
In Reaper i have inserted Rewire-Transport & three vsti drones (one for the violin, second to the viola, third to the cello)
In Synfire in the default track i have choosen Create Engine Port...Load a plug-in-Instruments- Kontakt Audio-unit or vst
Load into kontakt three sounds:
Violin Output St.1 Midi Ch 1
Viola Output St.1 Midi Ch 2
Cello Output St.1 Midi Ch 3
I follow in the default track,Device name: Strings
Sound Name & Category Violin
The indicator turned green
I draw a few notes inside the track
I create a new instrument with same sound,and choose the appropiate channel midi 02 and the sound name & category Viola;
The indicator turned green
I draw a few notes inside the track
I create a new instrument with same sound,and choose the appropiate channel midi 03 and the sound name & category Cello;
The indicator turned green
I draw a few notes inside the track
All sounds good
Then i go to the sound assigment of the violin track & choose DAW2 Reaper:01 to relocate the violin to the reaper´s violin drone ,i play and appears this window:
All instruments of an arrangement should be hosted on the same Audio Engine or DAW to ensure proper timing
What does mean this message? Then is not possible to relocate into the drones three different kontakt midi channels?
Hosted in the same Audio Engine? if i have only one audio engine opens?
or the same DAW? if i have only Reaper opens?
I don,t understand
Regards

Did you do that on the "Sounds" tab, or from the menu on the instrument inspector? If so (the latter), you did not relocate the sounds but created a new rack module using that Reaper drone.
Go to the "Sounds" tab an relocate from there, as shown in the video.

Hi André,
this post really made me smile. Didn't I tell you that you can expect such a post? It's really confusing that you can assign a new sound to the desired MIDI channel at the inspector, but then you cannot relocate it anymore from there. Didn't you say that the idea is that everything regarding the sound setup should be doable from the inspector? This should include relocating MIDI channels, IMO.

Hi
Andre a lot of thanks to your fast help especially being Saturday ;)
I have followed your tip and now it works;i thought it also could be done from the inspector, is a bit confusing
Also i don,t know if is important the order must be done the steps:
First open Reaper as master and after Synfire as slave this is obvious but after...
First i must create the transport rewire track, the drones,go to synfire and create tracks from scratch or first create tracks from scratch in synfire and after go to reaper and create a transport rewire track, the drones or is the same the order?

Squeezing all rack editing functionality into the small inspector would be even more confusing. The inspector is for creating and assigning sounds quickly. Moving plug-ins from one host to another is way more demanding and must be done with the rack editor. It's just one click away. Since this is usually done for all rack modules of a project at the same time, the rack editor is the most intuitive place to do that.

It works both ways. You just need to add the drones to Reaper first, before you can pick them up in Synfire.

I see your point. But wasn't there a relocate button at the inspector at V1.6? Would still be room for it at the inspector (next to the Preferred Channel drop down menu). And why is the Preferred Channel drop down menu greyed out for fixed channel devices anyway? Could this drop down menu not be used to select MIDI channels also for fixed channel devices?

Ok Thank you ;)
