The Transpose parameter

Posted

How does it operate?

It could be very useful to gradually increase the pitch of a loop during a crescendo. Does it follow the steps of the scale or is it a parameter that progressively "quantizes" the pitches?

In this example bars 1-2 and 5-6 are at zero transposition.

Measures 3-4 and 7-8 share the same figure but transposed to an arbitrary pitch to mimic the Question-Answer schema, being the answer significantly higher than the question.

Transpose shifts the Figure before it is rendered. It is equivalent to moving the Figure up or down.

Transpose also distorts a Figure segment a bit, unless it remains at the same level for a while (that is, for the duration of a segment, at least).

I think it's practical when you have to work on long loops, because you can change the pitch of the figures on the fly without having to move the figures one by one.

I also noticed that you can choose the interpolation, and this generates interesting things because you can make a very gradual transposition.

What do the decimal values mean? e.g. 1.5 or 3.5 and so on

The fractional part roughly translates to accidentals (+/- annotated at symbol)
