AU Plugin Output mode selection (stereo out vs. multi-out)

Posted

Hi Folks,

this is driving me crazy, as I sometimes get no output from my AU Instruments in Synfire.

My question, is there a way to change the AU-Plugin loaded audio output mode?

It seems that the Synfire-audio-engines internal stereo mixer (as Synfire is not transparent to all individual output tracks of the Mach five) looses some channels.

Usually when a multi-out AU plugin is available in addition to the standart stereo-out version it shows up as an extra plugin in AU Hosts.

e.g. Mach Five shows up in Logic as:

1.) Stereo
2.) 5.1
3.) Multi-output (16x Stereo)
4.) Multi-output (1x5.1 and 15x Stereo)

I guess from what I see in Audio Engine 2 (x64) Mach five is loaded in Mode "Multi-output (1x5.1 and 15x Stereo)" - but in fact I don't know exactly..

My question, is there a way to change the Audio Plugin loaded audio mode?

Thank you for your support!

Logic, as many other DAWs, provides a variety of mix busses beyond stereo. This is not something Synfire would attempt to keep up with, let alone compete with. The audio part of Synfire is merely intended as a means for quickly drafting a song. We don't have plans to support Surround formats or multi-channel busses.

That said, we are looking for ways to mix multiple outputs down to stereo internally. This is not yet implemented, though. Only the first 2 outputs currently go to the stereo mix. Therefore it's your responsibility to load the plug-in in stereo mode, or make sure all its outputs are going to the first 2 output channels.
