Auditioning instruments

I've got my multi-timberal device, and importing 16 track midi with proper device works fine,. Thanx.. I notice some the catagory of some instruments is left blank, others have correct catagory.  Should I fill in the catagory?  Does the cataogory have anything to do with auditioning instruements?

Now my problem is auditioning instruments.. I set aside T4 MIDI 16 to audition instruments. I have a library of finger picking. Yet I still must assign a sound for each new phrase (from the top of library box).  

I set up global instrument to be T4 MIDI 16, still same issue... 

My understanding is, if I pick an organ to audition from Library, SFP will look thru song instruementation and use that organ patch, is that correct?

So how does it deal when you select a phrase that doesn't correspond to any existing instruments in that song project?

Oh a ha... I can use the instrument name in the phrase pool, under the Pool tab... But I must do that for each phrase from the top of the phrase pool, even though acoustic guitar is specified, it does not sound until i re-select it..
