Example phrase library sound ?

Posted Wed, 07/20/2022 - 20:09

I dragged the guitarpicking phrase onto the structure view, but get a pianosound assigned for the guitarpicking phrase
What's going wrong here ?

I am a Synfire beginner, so allow me to ask: Which instrument was on the track in the structure view you pulled the phrase into?

Still find it strange when I drag and drop a phrase from the library into the empty structure view and the phrase sound is assigned to a piano ?
Seems to me that it is not required that there is a phrase present in the structure view, before I add a new phrase.

Sometimes it seems to work and now it doesn't ?, but maybe I'm reading over the help instructions.

Rule of thumb: You get the sound you hear when previewing the phrase only if that sound was assigned to the pool (blue wrench icon for a plug-in sound, or transparent icon for a global instrument). A temporary replacement sound (orange wrench icon) will not be suggested for copy, of course.

I assume guitarpicking 1 sound is assigned to the soundcase vst ?
Wonder how i can see this ?
Anyway drop and drag this phrase Guitar picking 1 gives a piano sound from the soundcase vst in the structure screen.
I really don't understand why no guitar picking sound is taken from the phrase library.

I really don't understand why no guitar picking sound is taken from the phrase library.

Because it's not the sound that was originally assigned to the pool. It's probably a replacement borrowed from the global rack. The library file may be from a time when Synfire didn't yet support libraries with their own racks.

Click the wrench button and assign the guitar sound to the pool. Once the button is blue or transparent, the sound will be suggested by the wizard.

Thanks, ok, wrench symbol for the rack : i could assign the wanted sound.
Seems there is difference in listening for phrase in library and phrase loaded in structure view?

The library guitar sound is a different acoustic guitar sound then from global rack Soundcase FluidR3.
From library :..Internal GM Synth : GM acoustic Guitar (nylon) ..a orange wrench

In the sound selection wizard: a orange message: no preset or device was found for Sound GM.Acoustic Guitar(Nylon)
Perhaps it has to to do with the device description for library used: internal GM synth

This: internal GM synth device description is not found by me in this beta version of Synfire where it is not included as it seems :  will it be added in the final version of Synfire ?
I know that there are of course much better guitar sounds are to find for this default library from Synfire.
I like to hear also the original library sounds.

The Internal GM Synth device is obsolete. It's now called Embedded GM Synth.

If you still want to use it you can download it from the Repository. The one from user timeline is the official version.
