Halion Symphonic Vst Performance

Posted

(copied this post here to answer in its own thread)

I am interested in this too in a orchestral tutorial.
Meanwhile i am trying to compose a orchestral arrangement..keep it simple with a stringsection and some extra instruments

I am using Halion Symphonic Vst as a instrument set in HALion5 and once assigned to a track and the performance is for 4 cores..( my computer has also 4 cores) i hope there is not too much loading time--> critical for how many instruments ?

Load time for orchestral samples can be long (minutes). You should keep these in a global rack that you save along with your project. This way you only need to load the samples once.

CPU count does not affect load times. A fast HDD or SSD does.

Also the number of instruments (tracks) is not critical. The number and sizes of the samples to load is.

I loaded the example arrangement and assigned (loaded in HALion5) the classical instrument from Halion Symphonic Vst
There is practical no loadingtime once the sounds are at forehand loaded in HALion5 and assigned to the tracks in Synfire.

Note: i made a quick arrangement rack..i must made a global rack..there is no button for a arrangement rack converted to a global rack? ( a atractive idea, but practical possible ? )
Well make right away a global rack ...

Halion5 has a modulation wheel for Volume control of the classical soundset ... i like to see in Synfire the volume parameter lane below the symbols ..
