*Bump*

I'm not answering this, but just in case it got lost amongst all the new SUG posts I thought I'd put it back on top :)

Cant talk about HN, but can comment on using drones in synfire, either drones hosting vsts or midi drones.

When you drag the midi out of a drone, if its a multi-timberal drone (ie has more than one channel) then you end up dragging and dropping multiple tracks of midi data onto multiple tracks in live.

You have to make sure there is enough room though. For instance you have 5 tracks in ableton, and the drone on the first track, but in synfire that drone has 3 instruments. If you drag  the midi out of the drone and drop it on track one, the other midi tracks will drop on track 2 and 3 overwriting any midi data you had on those tracks.

Its a lot easier to do than explain ;)

Hi obiwan, the file format is standard midi file format, one track per instrument. HN2 exports all instruments to one file. Import into Ableton is done by dropping the file on your Live set.

Make sure there are enough tracks available to accommodate all instruments as blacksun explained.

Synfire offers additional export track by track using the drones. This is shown here:
