How to make a device description for HALion 4

Posted

Handy to use a template device setup to construct a new device description out of this

First for doing this i need a device description for the HALion 4 what serve as template device description.
The problem how to make this in Windows OS? ..do i need cherry picker (MAC)
Or is this too difficult ?
note: it is not programming making a device description, but working with XML tags, but the problem how to set up this tag structure for HALion 4

You don't need external tools to do this.

Use the Audio & MIDI Setup window and edit your description there. All data entered here makes up the description.

Thanks

That i realized myself earlier too, that i can make a description as you described

I do have 1600 sounds with categories .. i can set this up as a device description ..organised...like as with other plugins?

If yes, that is good news ! (only a lot of work )
HALion 4 uses also a subcat : example: category : Guitar/Plucked-> subcat : A.guitar,E.guitar, ethnic, harp, other
How about sound subcategories in SFP/E ?

Seems to be rather easy to make a own device description out of your own VSti..super!

Halion Symphonic orchestra has for example a Ensemble Trombones+Trumpets Tutti Combi  sound and i can scan the playing range for these combinaion of instruments --> Synfire E came up with one green spot + one key .. 2 keys for playing range .. not very much ;)

Luckily in HALion4 it shows a keyboard with the playing range
I did some other standard classical sounds and the playing range were almost identical what HALion 4 shows plus the green spot what SYnfire E shows...very good.

I make a "template"for HALion4 symphonic ( purple color )
How to chance the order of the sounds in a soundbank ?
