Humanize Segment/Symbol

Posted

Very often I need to humanize a segment where selecting a span will randomize all sorts segments I dont want to touch

When I try to randomize the velocity of a segment it says 'Please use the region selection tool'

To work around it I am constantly dragging parts away from there supposed to exist, outside the bounds of the container, and doing it there, but that is less than ideal for certain.

I understand the reason a bit more for the Enhance Down Beat, although that one is a bit perplexing as well -- the down beats are defined by the time signature no?

Inside Synfire, there lives an algebra that works on vectors and is capable of computing expressions like v1 * 0.15 * v2 / (rotate('-3/4',v3) - v4)).

Therefore many functions, like Humanize, take a vector as argument. The function does not know the global timeline, so it assumes the vector's beginning be the start of a measure. That's why the selected span is required to be at measure bounds currently.

These functions need to be rewritten in order to take advantage of partial object selections and the full current state of the phrase editor and arrangement.

This is certainly a good idea. Thanks for pointing it out.
Simple Segments - Mixed Types

For variety, use very simple segments, but of different types, mixed into a figure. The different scales and changing harmonies in themselves will result in lovely, colorful movements that contrast with each other.

The example in the illustration produces a very lively and animated texture, which you would not suspect from its appearance.
