Kontakt 5.6 update silently dropped 32 bit support (?)

Posted

Updated to Kontakt 5.6 today on OS X and lost 32 bit AudioUnit compatibility. So be careful, if you want to update and still use 32 bit racks.

I can't imagine that NI silently drop 32 bit support on a minor version update. That would be highly disruptive and break too many user's current work. The new NI installer rather seems to have issues. So be careful!

I managed to restore the old AudioUnits and VST from Time Machine. So be warned.

Update:

If you install the VST versions of Kontakt 5.6 or later on macOS, the 32 bit Scanner will complain it can't load them (VST only). You can ignore these summary messages, but will not be able to use Kontakt 5 with the 32 bit Engine anymore.

If you want to continue to use Kontakt 5, you'll need to use the 64 bit Audio Engine and migrate your arrangements and racks to 64 bit.
